This one was a little salty.

Its about time 1/8/14

We must apologise for the delay in posting but we have been so busy enjoying ourselves day and night we didnt have time.
This is our C P in Darwin,10 mins into town or to any of the numerous shopping centres, cafes and bars. Our favourite bar/cafe is the Ducks Nuts in the city
Yesterday evening we went to the Mindil market with Geoff and Dawn with a huge array of gastronomic delights local crafts and alternate music interrupted only by an amazing sunset over the bay and followed by a few drinks on the Wharf where we are departing from tomorrow for a sunset dinner cruise.
Lifes Good !
The sunsets are truly amazing
Monsoonal rain at Wildlife park near Darwin

Rock wallaby's eat out of your hand at Hevitree caravan park
Wayside stop on the way to Glen Helen resort
You can see where Albert Namajera got his inspiration
He grew up and learned to paint in this area

We were lucky to see some stunning wildflowers in bloom

This waterhole was at Glen Helen where we stayed for 2 nights
with our mates and visited most of the gorges and holes nearby.
The second night we dined in the restaurant and were entertained by a singer/guitarist from Melbourne who was really good
Picked up a young German girl heading back to Alice. She had waked a trail to Glen Helen from Alice with a group of hikers (about 150 k's) madness !
Stayed last night at a roadside stop right on the Tropic of Capricorn
Beaut campfire with German couple and couple from Geelong
Both well and keen to get further north where the nights are warmer

Made it to Alice 13/7/14 (I think)

Aboriginal man painting at Uluru

Met a couple from Tassy in this old bus.It was fitted out beautifully
Note their dog in front window
We left Uluru 2 days ago and reached Stuart hwy around midday stopped in at Eridunda roadhouse for a great coffee !
We camped along the Stuart Hwy and shared a fire with our mates
and met a young French couple who were both chefs and they made us
all yummy crepes for dessert
But croissants for breakfast was out of the question !
We made it to Alice yesterday and luckily found the last 2 sites in caravan park.
It rained most of the night and all morning.Cant complain we havn't seen rain since Burra.
Heading in to town to check it out.
Probably stay here a few days.

Sunsets are amazing

Wednesday 9 July 2014

Beautiful old home near Burra built in the 1800s by a wealthy landowner "Martindale Hall".Was used by Peter Weir in the school scenes in Picnic at hanging rock.
 Underground church at Coober Pedy
What an unusual place  it is
Good place to stock up on food, grog and fuel very reasonable prices.Beer and wine at Uluru is more than double the price.
Just north of Coober Pedy is the Breakaways
a great unofficial overnight stop with great views especially at sunset and sunrise.
Heading towards Alice but detouring to Kings Canyon and Uluru
Did some great walks at Kings Canyon
The rim walk is amazing, took 3 1/2 hours and am still getting over it.
The creek walk is well worth it too.
